Anya, thanks for the notice reply about the 4/5/13 webinar. I will be there at 3:00 Central standard time, or 4:00 Eastern standard time. At 5:30 I have another appointment.

Dan,
Wow...tons of color and contrast...
In fact a bit too much.

Things to look at on the original.
The skin tones of the people are too yellow...It also effects the entire image so fixing that will help overall.

The Reds are really hot.
Look at the bright reds on the horses, you should not lose shape and detail in the saturation of the reds. Something we will be covering in detail later in the course.

Contrast overall, Dan if you lower the the contrast as shown in the L curve the shape in the horses necks gets better. It also takes some of the "harshness" out of the image...

You can apply my ACV file attached to your image and your posted image and you will see what I mean.

Which of my programs can I open the acv file you sent me. Photoshop elements says that it won't open it because it is the wrong file type. I have PSE 8 on my computer.

Open the image in PSE.

Open Curvemeister.

Click "Load" Button.

Select the file and click the open button.

Greg, I guess we'll get to this stuff later in the course. How to make curves, that is. What I can do is put hue clocks over the two images and note the differences. thanks.

Art, I think you asked how i did it. I used hsb and lab and i boosted the midtones and the shadows.

If you right click on the curve in the center and select Pin Grid>Upper Right. You will get the pins you see...Its fast and easy to hold one side of the curve back that way.

Hi Dan,

it was me, who asked.
Do you have save your curves in cm and could make a screenshot of them?

I go to HSB yesterday for the first time. Definitely have to look around there.
