I tried to keep the shadow behind the bear dirt colored not blue.

Greg,

From your ACV file I made the change shown.  It increases the contrast just a bit and then I upped the saturation slider.

Try it out on your image and see if you can push the contrast a bit more without blowing out the highlights.

RGB bear.I was finally able to keep the highlights on the bears back white and the snout sort of neutral.I did try your suggestion,Greg,but thr nose keep turning blue

you can set the neutral on the nose...no Blue nosed grizzly bears allowed...
