Maybe..the cookie cutter effect is a bit over the top...

Maybe a little bit better now, but I can't bring the halos out totally.
Wrong decition before in the workflow for lighten the picture...

Tanja,

Here is what I did...

1) Layer copy and use an inverted K channel mask in CM to allow me to use the underexposed curves from the library.  I chose the maximum change.  Blur slightly and apply.
2) flatten the image.
3) open in CM and use the B channel from RGB to make a high contrast mask and copied it out to the clipboard, then pasted it in as a layer mask in PS so I could paint on the foreground and the arm to make the mask complete.
4) Open the masked layer in CM and adjust the RGB master curve to make the midtones of the window scene darker and not create the cut out windows look.

Give it another try...
