Here's a larger version of my patched-up frog.

Cheers,

Lee - try a little experiment.

Save your image at 10-12 quality and then at say 5 and even another at 0

Then re-open them and place one over tother as a layer - change the blend mode to Difference

You will probably not see much difference - add a levels adjustment layer and bring the high end down

All the best on the course - it really is a great way to learn

Thanks very much Zog - I'll definitely give that a try next time. You're right about the course - I've learnt more in the last few days than I have in the last few years! I really appreciate you and Greg M participating - I'm learning so much from you all  ;D

Cheers,
Lee.

With the mask channel selected you click the copy button.

Then close CM In PS or PSE select the layer mask with Alt-click.  Then paste the image into the mask.

I've got that working now - thanks Greg  :) One thing though - Having grabbed a channel from CM using that option, I'm finding that if I return to CM to get another one, when I paste it the clipboard still has the first channel I copied. The only way I've found of being able to get another channel is to close Photoshop down. I've tried closing down, and reopening the image, and also the Edit > Purge > Clipboard option doesn't work (that stops the CM Copy Channel function working completely). Is this a bug?

Lee.

If you choose the K channel it is yes...Sorry forgot to tell you that...
There are other K channel bugs in there as well...try the L channel in its stead...

CM might remember the last mask settings but it is using the windows clipboard to get the image across so you should not have to close PS to clear that.

Greg
