On this one I took the dark black spot of the bee's belly for the shadow, and the white spec on the bee's face for the highlight.  After that I used the saturation slider and moved it up to about 1.9.

was there detail in the dark part of the flower on your screen in PS? 

It looks a bit dark to me...sometimes that can be due to the difference between PS and the Web.

Definitely an improvement.  Although it worked this time, be careful about trusting a bright reflective spot - it's a specular highlight, and can not be used as a "normal" highlight.  Better to use the threshold feature for this purpose, otherwise you run the risk of adding a color cast to the image.
