Hey Joe,

Try moving the highlight threshold into the image a bit further.  This will increase the slope of the composite RGB curve and add contrast to the image which looks kind of flat on my monitor.

Revised file attached. So, as a rule, the higher (steeper) the slope, the higher the contrast?

yeah that is about it...

If you watch the CM grid when you place a Shadow and Highlight it increases the slope of the curve. 

You can effect some "local" changes after that to add contrast to specific tonal ranges.  When we get to next week's assignments you will be doing some specific adjustments to help with those local controls. 

Then we will add color control using the same techniques on separate color channels.
