I prefer lab for my pictures,is there really any kind of preference of one from another.
Very nice - you got the sand somewhat darker, and did not pay a price in the shadowed beach chairs. This is the essence of curves.
As for RGB versus Lab - many people prefer Lab because it gives you separate control over brightness and color. If you try doing the same type of curve in RGB, you may find that certain colors change on you. In other situations, RGB will be better. It's up to you, and there is no need to predict which will be better.
