I tried to do a double pass as you sais but the image change between LAB and RGB that I must redo in RGB (the image is that light that it cannot be showed like that) no changes between LAB and HSB, neither between lab and wgCMJK, so I try to enhance the curve to add contrast and texture to the sans , add contrast globally to straiten the shadows, and moved the blue channel in RGB to add a bit of yellow to the sand (the sunny style), and add blue to the sky. So I'll attach the curves (first in LAB & second in RGB) in a reply.

Over all the image looks pretty good but a bit lifeless...try to adjust the L curve in the area shown and see if you can get a bit more "snap" into the image...

naa...too far...

I'd rather see the other image...

It's really a tweak at both ends of the lightness curve in LAB
