This was my second try at this one. I used thresholds to set the shadow point, boosted contrast in the highlights, increased saturation slightly until the eyes started glowing. I then corrected the color by moving the dark end of the green curve, but I wasn't altogether happy with the result, so I set a neutral point on the left fore leg which I felt provided a better result.

well no now the overall image is yellow...it is a variation on the half dome image..you need to adjust the blue out of the speciific areas. I'd go back to my previous neutral you were by far closer to the solution.
The real trap here is the green cast on the brown fur...the lesson is to watch for a green cast on people shots when they have darker hair.
