I preferred the Lab version for this one, too.  RGB seemed over saturated.

What I like about your version is that you kept things dark, with plenty of color.  It's all to easy, when trying for maximum contrast, to blow the lighter areas, with the result that detail is lost.

Having shot film since the early seventies and having done considerable reading on the Zone System, I really try to preserve as much detail as I can.  I have to admit that I was a little disappointed that I couldn't tweak just a little more contrast without blowing out the highlights!
