This shot was taken at the beginning of August up in the Telmark mountains not long before sunset. The subject is a seaman (Master of one of the ferries that ply between Norway and Denmark) and when he's not at sea he spends a lot of time up in the mountains. Hence he has a rather unusual skin colour which I was unable to bring out. So I settled for a believable colour.
I was mainly interested in reducing the shadow of the face.
I settled for setting a neutral point on the rock (granite) and moved it around between the sunlit portion and the shaded part until I got the best colour balance.
I then tweaked the a and b channels being carefull not to overdo it which tended to make his face resemble molten metal, it realy glowed.

Not too bad actually...
I could see this going orange really fast...
You are going to have to revisit this image next week..as we are covering Skin oclor and Pins..There are some really good articles out there about Lab and skin color...
