I really sweat with this one.

You got a pretty good result, but you added way to many points to the Lab curves.  Other than the neutral, adding two points for each curve, two on the green side of the a curve, and two on the yellow side of the b curve should be enough to work with. 

I've used arrows to show which points actually had an effect on the image.  The circled point has a dramatic effect on the red pom poms.  The un-marked points could probably be removed from the curve.
