i have seen the contrast pin movie several times.
so here is my trie.
I have experimented a lot to see the overall effect.
I could do that very good. I use 2 monitors.
I used different sample sizes and different places on the fur.
So the most profit has not the dog but the gras, is my opinion.
Perhap Mike could again explain the sense of this contrast pin.

p.s. deleting the points on the a and b with the delete button is also easy.

In the LAB color space you can add contrast to the image without introducing a color shift.  It is a quick and effective method for doing this.  It allows you to select the "range" of the effect and moving both points equally to keep the change distributed evenly over the "range" that you wnat to adjust.  It eliminates uneven contrast across the selected area or tonal range.

It is quite useful after you play with it for a while.  I frequently set two points manually then later I realize I just want a bit more contrast so I will click on one point and Ctrl-Click on the other and it sets up the contrast pinning as well. 

Part of this, is also opening the CM program up to more creative uses.  Can you think of any places where else this might be an effective tool??  (not a quiz...more like asking you to think out of the boundries of your usual work flow.)

Greg, that is just the problem. indeed it is easier to do this on this way, but till now i did it always manually, so mention examples where it is exclusive use!

I'll try to make sure I point them out...

I have used it to add contrast to some colors...you have to be careful but it's great for "very" local color correction
