I watched the video and 5 minutes later I had a hard time with the desired results. After quite a few tries I think I've done better.

Is this a second pass in Lab?  The key to removing the blue is to get the b curve off-center, by moving the yellow end of the curve, using the hue clock as your guide. Both of your curves are still centered..
