Cheating MerryGoRound - Lesson 1

I'm taking you at your word Greg!

I started with violent rgb curves on a duplicate layer

(couldn't determine any neutral point)
and then set the blend mode to Luminosity
Added a touch of Local Contrast (25 pixels)
Then whammed in some lab sat - giving this...

blowing a few highlights which I thought were not important for this image.
I quite like the overall effect, but really think it is a big cheat - although I must confess that the idea of doing the luminosity in rgb (one has more control) and then moving to lab to colourise seems to work pretty well.

Zog,
At this point in the class these are the advanced images..so using all your ammo is a good thing...heck at any point these are tricky images at best...

I think i like having more highlights in my horses though so when I did this image I kept the horses a bit darker...
