Don,can you post a picture of just the pumpkins.You seem to have gotten really deep color without making the pumpkins look diseased.GregM

Don,I tried that slope(rather than a curve)you used on the pumpkins.I've tried the idea on some other images too.Very interesting.GregM

Greg,
Many curve adjustments are just a slope adjustment.  Shadow and Highlight just change the slope of the curve.  If you are in LAB mode it is the same as doing the thresholding drill.

It is very effective in HSB as well especially if you avoid the Hue....

I didn't save the original but here is the best I can reconstruct.
