Used lab and selected the points as shown.  Just picked H,S and N points

Bring the color back.....
Use the saturation slider to return the color to the image....
Also, play with the highlight side of the L curve a bit and see if you can improve the bright warea in the background.  There is more information out there that you might want to show.
