This was my first attempt. This was again using a mask. Whew I just did not know forsure what lookedright so I will post again after I look at this for awhile.

You have the skin tones nicely done...assume the coins are neutral and see where you end up...

Here is the 2nd try with a neutral Point. That really helped! Thanks

Now...Brighten up the mid tones and see if you can add contrast to the scene.  (Hint: Switch to LAB, in the L channel find a spot on the image with a long worm segment say 1/3 of the length of the grid and right click.) 

Select "Contrast Pin".  Place the cursor on the edge of the L channel frame so it shows you a bent double headed arrow, click and slowly drag that mouse across the grid frame.  The contrast pin will separate the ends of the worm you located and increase the contrast of the image... It can decrease it if you go the wrong way.

Play around and see what happens....

Thank You!I had completely forgotten how to do that s curve in  lab to increase the contrast. It really helped. The sky got lighter but I think overall a big improvement.

If you want to go further....

Reverse the bottom of the curve.  Pin the curve where I have and then pull the curve outward to the left in the darkest parts until you get some detail back....
