I did very little adjusting in Lab. I moved the light and dark thresholds until I could just see the white and black bits appearing.
I used the neutral on the rocks in the right hand corner. It seemed to  give it a glow from the invisible sun. I got the hint from Thomas's picture. I also increased the a and b to 1.51.

Very nice....

Did you play with the color saturation more than the setting listed??

It looks very moody which is nice but the water is a bit too blue.  You can go after this in RGB if you like or leave it alone your choice...
