Well the Curves 2 tab is the issue I think...Try setting the 0-255 radio button there and see if that sticks for your images.
Try also setting the hue clock and text on the preview tab.that will help you to see the color changes better.

As for the delay in movement, just curious how much RAM are you allowing PS or PSE to use?  you might want to give the program more access to RAM.

I set the 0-255 radio button and it stick but nothing changes on the lightness windows it stays at 0-100 percent. I made the other change.

Photoshop is using 1186 or 70% of my ram. I have two megs total.

I read that many people have problems running plugins that worked on CS3 on CS4. I know NIK plugins on my machine will run but does funny things in other places with CS4, for instance the "arrange documents" button does not works properly.

this might be a CS4 bug...

I'm not 100% sure.  Post a note to the bugs topic so Mike can track it...
Other than confusion is it causing you any trouble??

I can work with it, just a bit hard to be exact dragging and setting the shadow, highlight and neutral points. as for the other thing well I guess 100% equals 255.

Try the shadow and highlight threshold feature rather than a point.  That might help.  Do you have a wireless mouse?? sometimes when my mouse batteries are about to die the accuracy and ability of the mouse drops off first.
