I used Greg's curves posted in Jay's post straight away (thanks for the tip).
I then watched the video and scanned the shadows as Mike suggested (I recognize those dulcet tones now).
A final pass to boost contrast, but my computer is trying to crash so I haven't saved the final version.
I think I've included a shot of the stand alone hue clock too ;)

Not only did you kill the blues but the yellows as well.. the flat spot in your curve kinda really punches the lights out of the yellows. Remember that once you cross the center line in LAB you are into the opposite color. If you want to knock out the blues you might want to start by pinning the yellows so you don't accidentally hurt them. Right click on the center and select Pin to Grid then choose the yellow side from the fly out menu.
