Finally got there. I had to go up into the menu of elements and paste to get the mask to work. I dont understand how you are getting there in your video. Feeling pretty stupid!

I also could not get the line to move like it does in thresholding but I'm about to go back in and have another try. Possibly my 20th, but who knows this could be the one. (Just tried again and I cant make it happen)

I have my new copy of photoshop CS3 and am building up the courage to install it. I think I will have to re-organise all my photos, tags and collections, not looking forward to that. will the history, name and notes be there? Also waiting on my upgrade of curvemeister to run in it.

Elements makes it very hard to use masks..it is the one feature they went out of thier way to make difficult in PSE....
I'm going to have to review it myself because I do not use PSE for Masking...yikes....

Ok...Refresher course complete...

Here it is step by step for PSE using version 7.

The idea here is to create a mask.  Not necessarily an adjustment mask that you would apply CM to.
Start by creating an adjustment layer with hue saturation...Shot1 , 2 and 3  Click OK on the dialog box to close it for now...

Select the background layer and open CM to create the mask.  Shot4.  After you copy the mask to the clipboard by using the copy Icon in CM return to PSE by clicking cancel on the CM dialog.

Select the mask by Alt-clicking on it  Shot5  you should see the dark line around the white square.  Paste the copied mask into the layer mask with Ctrl-V or edit>Paste.  Shot6

Re-open the hue adjustment by double clicking on it. and make adjustments as you like....Shot7

Total time once you have the pattern down...less than 1 minute.
