Here are my two efforts on Week 2/Example 2 - neither completely satisfactory.  I struggled to avoid the blue cast in the Lab version; the RGB version is perhaps a touch warm.  Very interesting to experiment with them both.

In the LAB version you can go a long ways if you remember that a neutral can be black or white as well as gray.  The overall detail in the text is better in the LAB version as well. 

In the RGB version it looks like you are trying for too much contrast here...Watch the big red check mark and zoom into the smaller text as needed to make sure you can still see details.

LAB is faster for this image but RGB can hold the colors better...
