I found the result was best in RGB.  I used a shadow point on a ground floor window; a highlight on the edge of the roof of the silo (in the background); and tuned the color with a neutral point on the embankment wall.  (My attempt in Lab was OK, but I found it weaker for producing good color.)

It might be a bit contrasty.  You mentioned that the LAB version was not as colorful??  Did you use the saturation slider?  Was the color a different quality??  Just curious about these things...I have seen both LAB and RGB corrections for this image that are quite nice...
