When I did the course last year, I said that the plate had the yellow hue from the yellow material it was standing on. Now I think that the glass plate is made with a yellow tinge and one buys them like that. The only way to test this is to place the plate on a white tablecloth.

This image always gets interesting responses. 

I for one do not believe the glass is completely colorless.  We expect clear glass to be colorless but cameras can sometimes see things differently.  A known neutral would also be a good test.  Have the plate sit half over the neutral and then you would be able to measure the color difference...
