This is such a beautiful image. I hope I can do it justice. I love that kind of atmosphere.

This is one of the more fun images we have to play with.
Some things to look for...besides a tad more contrast.

The fisherman's net is red....
There is a gold highlight on the top of one of the hills on the right...
If you can put some green into the trees you are going to be better off...
There are very few places where green haze would be acceptable....

Kessi, there are some buildings on the hilltop just below the pagoda that you can bring out by playing with the lightness curve.I also used an edge sharpening action for the ridge line ,clouds and ripples.I didn't do color correction but some people have been able to emphasize the mist in the valleys and yes,it is possible to make the net at the end of the pole red for the fisherman in the boat lower left.GregM

Hi all,
My next attempt.
I believe you if you say that the fisherman's net is red.  ???
I got the buildings on the hill top to the right to show themselves and I think the golden speck is also there.

Kessi,
This is the most subjective image in the class...

That being said...try playing around with the mid tone contrast.  The easiest way is to use the contrast pin.  But in this image the contrast range is kind of small...so you can set the points manually...start by clicking on the curve on the lower end of the range shown.  Then "control-click" on the upper range.  You should see the red dashed lines as shown.

I set the highlight curve command to show you where I can effect the curve with this set up.  .

You can then use the mouse to move the 2 points together; this will change the overall toneof the image... and you can use the curve frame edge to "twist" the curve to increase the contrast in that range.

To do that place the mouse on the frame edge and left click you should see a curved double headed arrow.  If you hold the click and drag it left or right you should see the two points "twist" and the contrast will increase or decrease depending on which way you twist them.  Play around with the setting and see if you can find a better mid-tone contrast setting.

Lastly; since the image is so color flat you can use the saturation slider in LAB to really crank in some color...again find something you like...
