I decided to brighten only the sky. So a very rough selection on below the sky line.

Remember to use a bit of caution when you hand paint out the mask in PS so that you cover the entire image you want to mask...You handled the sky nicely...

I find it better ... if I use the PS mask then I convert the mask to a selection, then go to CM. I can see the mask in the ruby color or not.

true enough...it is about your work flow...use it as you like....
