When you saturate this one the paper turns yellow...Greg M is correct in that you need to help the color image a bit.

how about this?  (I cheated a little as I masked out the photo and fixed it separately from the text)

I will try to do this as an exercise without masking and layers.

Yet another version.  Two passes in LAB with no masks.  One to clean up white and black and NOT screw up photo.  Then fix photo.

Steve,
You can get rid of the magenta cast by adjusting the green channel...as shown.
Otherwise everything looks pretty solid...

Hmm....  I have two computers.  I must have uploaded or corrected the wrong one.  this one I had to move the red curve.
