Greg,
I think this is ok. I sharpened a little as well. It was hard not to make the colours unbelievable, I had to back off a bit. It looks like the ground in the background has lost all detail and i am not sure where i should have put the highlight - so much was already blown.

Boy the greens are almost the same in both images...
Maybe leave the LAB version alone....
