I tried setting a neutral in lab to get the hue clocks shorter. A person could go mad doing this. I took the advice you gave someone else about only going for 20 minutes at a time and this was the best I could get. I placed the neutral in the middle of the counter in a place that looked fairly grey. If I went to either side (where cast was more prominant) it just intensified the opposite side's colour cast. Like I say, a person could go mad. I did not do anything else, just what the exercise asked for.

I would say that for this part of the process you did just fine.  Adjusting the saturation is a simple problem that you certainly can cover..

In LAB without multiple neutrals you can go nuts with this image in trying to get it right...
