RGB- Ok, ok, I used the RGB master curve.

Your posted image looks better than your curve examples...good job BTW...Did you try the multiple neutrals??  it really is an interesting trick...
For the LAB you might want to bring the Shadows down just a bit more....It has better overall contrast when the shadows have more in them...
