I fixed the shadow in medium gcr using cyan and a little magenta. In max gcr, I could kill the shadow but those funny flowers nearby got hosed.
I suppose I could have masked or done something fancy in Max gcr and used the black curve.
BTW- CMYK has some problems in win 7 32 bit on my laptop. Same old problem. If I go into cmyk mode the GCR drop down selection does not work.
Bottom line wgCMYK works in win 7 64 if I go into cmyk mode.
Since I seem to be the only one and I have a work around.... no big deal. I use the 64 machine for production. the 32 machine for training and travel.

Steve,
I hate to do this but I am going to ask that you start over...
Watch the shadows and the mortar between the bricks...Green is not a color I would expect to see in mortar.
The tree shadows actually come out to be pretty neutral not so red....
Remember that CMYK is subtle...think small adjustments even smaller than RGB and go slowly...
Also remember that in CMYK a Red cast needs a Cyan adjustment...Think color opposites.

This time, I went to max black and messed with the black curve only. there should be no color casts.
I think I am getting close to cmyk. I always make a copy of the original layer. If I do not and run CM on the background, no problem. Make sense?

Your work flow using a layer copy is always a strongly recommended process.
You are much closer this time...Take a look at the changes I made to your image using the K channel and the Y channel. The Y channel just makes the whites whiter...there is a slight yellow cast...the K channel gives it much more weight...
K can really build contrast fast if you want it to.

Another attempt. I moved the Y and the M a little.
The other two screen shots.... With one layer, CMyk works. With two layers, the numbers do not work. There is simple work around. Dup image. CM, then dup layer. apply image, etc.
