I used Threshold for shadows and highlights and set neutral point and adjusted color (desat).

I know by now you are feeling pretty confused...
Let me start by saying you went too far both in the original and in the re-post...
Take a look a the screen shot below. Notice the control points on the green side of the A channel; they hold the saturation of the greens in check so they do not "over cook" the color too fast.
