Hi

I did this but could not leave it alone.
Contrast pinned as requested and added shadow highlight neutral in lab as I was there.
Then when I should have stopped I decided to have a go at the colour of the tongue.
Did this in rgb using mask. I know we are not up to them yet but that tongue was pretty blue!
Hue mask gave best seperation and then I used a skin pin.
Seemed ok at the time but on closer examination the edges were visible and some bits of the gum had gone ballistic.
So then I tried to clone to cover the edges and gum bits.
took a while and not done well
Any hints on the edges in masks when we get to them?
Finally added a bit of sharpening using high pass as I think it added to the contrast I had added with the contrast pin.
I will try to get rid of the blue tongue in rgb next
Know thats not what you asked for, but I may as well get your advice whiile I can. ;D

Julie,
I'd take the Hue Mask out to PS and paste it into a layer; then you can edit it a bit or blur the edges so the transition is not so harsh.

The High Pass filter will add edge definition by darkening the transition between light and dark depending on your settings It will also add contrast as well as some of sharpness is by definition contrast....
