Hm, strange. I choose the k-channel mask in cm and work on it, get attachment 1.
Because I want to paint on this mask, I copy it in cm and paste it as a mask in ps.
But I get a totally different mask (attachment 2)

Try to create an own mask by converting a dublication of the picture to cmyk with a 100% GCR profile and get the same mask like I see in curvemeister.
My normal settings are the US Swop Profile, but even with this I don't get this wrong mask as on attachment 2.
What happens there?

By all mask problems... This is the hopefully finished.

And maybe a picture for the "bigger hammer". Use it here.

Hmm,
I'll look at the K channel mask in my set up and see if there is a bug going on...there used to be one but we squished it months ago...

Hi Tanja,

Your image looks excellent!  Did you do it in CM using the K-channel mask?  I can't seem to get anything nearly as good as what you did.

Cheers,
Art

Hi Art,

yes, I'm using the k-channel and modify hardly + a blur for better edges.
But I create in ps, because of the strange copy problem.
In cm it's not possible to paint out the rest of white in the mask, which is not sky.

After this I apply the red channel to the whole image and get only the darker sky, because of the mask.
Next step was Dan Margulis "Bigger Hammer", which you sadly not able to use in elements.
For this picture, I think it works fine. When there is enough time the next days, I want to find out what it does exactly and maybe there is a way in elements too. I had something different in mind, thought it was a false profile with k-channel. Somewhere here is something saved over this method. Hope I find it  ;)

Rest is normal cm workflow. Color correction in rgb and color push in lab.
And the wonderful new sharpening from the ppw-channel.

Greetings, Tanja

Hi Tanja,

Creative use of multiple procedures! It certainly looks great.

I tried to copy and past the K-channel mask from CM into PSE to paint it but I had the same problem you did -- it changed to mostly white all over.

Cheers,
Art

Hi Art,

oups, bug-comeback?
Bad for you, but good to hear for me, that I don't be an idiot  ;).

Do you decide for a ps solution? Then I can show you the ps-way to this mask tomorrow.
Uhh, have to read again, how to create a new profile. Ever forget this.

Greetings, Tanja

No haven't decided on a PS solution yet.

Only thing that works is Topaz Adjust. But I don't think Greg would approve of that.  ;)

Cheers,
Art

Maybe use Topaz Adjust as only Little Hammer ;D
