Grass has too much yellow for such a cloudy day, but I encountered the problem Tanja mentioned -- how to modify it without negatively affecting the rest of the image (?)

Remember that Grass and other yellow objects live in the b channel of LAB.
Use the color worm to locate the position on the b channel curve where the yellow is affecting the image and make changes to only that point.

If you have too much "green" did you over adjust the A channel??

Hi Jerry,

Difficult to modulate the b channel without losing colour in the yellow building. Have adjusted the a channel.  What do you think? Keep at it?

Try this...
Make the b channel much larger so you can work closer to the "color" of the grass and make small changes.
It is in there and you can get at it...

You can also make a small mask if needed or even use a "selection" in Photoshop before you go into CM.
That is coming int he next week or so...but it should not be needed here.

Ok, thanks, will try that.

I was planning to post a note here: I can't get the masks from the library or from the mask carte to apply in LAB (although library masks will apply to RGB, but no other masks).

Do I have something in CM set up wrong?

Hi Art,

your gras looks much better than mine.
What are you doing to open the shadows?

Greetings, Tanja

Hi Tanja,

I played with the L channel until I randomly hit upon something on the left side of the curve that seemed to work. Not necessarily something I could do again I'm afraid.

Just sending you an email.

Hi Greg,

The yellow in the grass and in the building were so close that it seemed that was little or no room for adjustment, so I went into the b channel and reduced the green. Although it's a subtle change, I think it possibly gets closer to one version of a believable reality. I just noticed I've drained all of the green out of the building on the far right, which is now a slightly greenish grey. Oh well...maybe another day for this one.

Cheers,

Hi Art,

I have the same problem with the two near yellows.
Try again tomorrow too  ;)

Sounds good Tanja,  let's compare notes tomorrow-

(You'll need to rest well tonight to tackle this most difficult issue -- "the problem of the too similar yellows")

Cheers,

Art
