In the foto, I tried to follow as much as possible Greg's recommendations.  Also, Greg, is there a limit to the number of posts one can make?

I'm not sure I'm getting the proportions right.  I cropped it for a 4x6 on photoshop elements, and I made it 1024 x 682.  It was posted, but I'm not sure If I'm doing this right?

thanks,

dan

Hi Daniel,

I don't know elements, but didn't you have there the menu for scale an image by constrain proportions?
In my case, it is under Image > Image Size and then I have to make a mark on this point and ps calculate the right hight to the width or reverse.

Greetings, Tanja

Hi Dan,

I use PS Elements as well (v.10).  When you re-size an image make sure that the three boxes in the bottom left hand corner are all checked. Then just type in the width you're using (1024), click on OK, and that's all you have to do. The Document Size boxes are only for printing, so you can leave those alone.  Your image is appearing here as 682 x 1024, so it's all right.
Are you "Saving for the web" with the highest possible quality under 300k?

Cheers,
Art

Dan it looks much better.

You can post as often as you like.
The limits are:
  3 files per post
315 KB per file
900KB per posting.

In Elements you can go to save for web and adjust the quality down until it fits in 315 KB or less.  I have the same limits so Images I post are going to fit the size limits.

Rick,
The class goes at your pace...Good luck with the interviews and if you want to share your portfolio when it is complete I would love to see it.

Regarding deleting points from the curves.

If you select the point in question on the curve grid then hit delete it will remove the point from the curve.  You can also select a curve point and drag it off the curve frame edge and it will be removed.  Neutrals and Highlight and shadow points are different, you need to select the point in the frame of the image and then delete it.  This is because a neutral or a color pin or a highlight/shadow point is present on more than one curve.  You would have to remove them all at the same time.

If that is not working we might have a bug that needs to be researched.

regarding image refresh:

Please post these to the bugs area of the forum as well.  I have seen a few cases where the screen does not re-draw correctly and Mike needs to hear about these so he can fix them.

Greg and Art:

thanks for getting back with me.  I will definitely look into your suggestions, they are extremely helpful to me.  Also, I get asked when transfering files on my flash drive to upload into elements, 'do i want to enhance the photos using the adobe Srgb or something like that, or just leave as is.' I've been leaving it as is.  Should I be using 1)as is 2)the adobe enhancement for web 3)for print?  the last choice doesn't look right.

thanks,
dan

I would not allow PSE to alter my files.  You should not either.

Choose the just leave it as is option.
If you are using CM to enhance the colors and contrast this adjustment will pile on top of that.

Greg
