I was determined to get at least one photo done a day, but these first two almost defeated me!  I've been working all afternoon on the by-the-numbers assignment.  It is absolutely fascinating, frustrating, and enlightening.  I love it!  If I can rely on numbers instead of my subjective opinion, that will solve all of my color balancing problems.  I finally got the numbers to match on these first two, so I hope they are right!

My monitors, a Dell laptop and an Eizo CE240W, are calibrated every week with Color Munki.  They seem to be pretty true.

I'm really enjoying learning all of this!

Today I worked on the Fruit Vendor photo.  I set the shadow and highlight and then used the skin of the guy in the window to balance the color.  Hope it's right!

You absolutely got the fruit vendor right...Good work!

Might want to nudge the highlights a bit but very solid.  You split the differences on the colors reflected int he steel frame very nicely.

Dan and friend:
Solid work.  When I set hue clocks the image is in a reasonable place.  There might be a slight mid-tone cast to the red but that seems to make the face warmer.
Everything I tried caused me to have to fix a different problem so I think your choices are really pretty good.

Dan and Hat:
Nice...
You hit all the marks for this image.  I personally might open the tonality of the mid-tones a bit.  It is subjective. nothing wrong with your correction here.

I am glad you are getting this.  Most of it comes down to By the Numbers corrections but once you get the hang of them they are fast and generally accurate.  Everything else we do is enhancement.  the color correction is the key.

This one was fun and easy!  I hope I did it right.

Tina,
Good work...Some of them are pushing it for the yellow side of the Hue clock but they all are better than they were before.
