It's looking unlikely that I'll be able to participate in the video conference call tomorrow, but will be eagerly looking forward to viewing it on Sunday or thereabouts.

Cheers,

Hi
finally got to see the whole of the first video
Great images Tina

I t was good to be reminded of all the different techniques available
Its easy to fall into the habit of doing things the same way all the time

I've been using the PPW sharpening tool and have been impressed with it
Sometimes I fiddle the individual layers and sometimes with the master control
I do find that I often turn off the colour layer
I feel like I've got to where I want to be and I don't want it messed with

Looking forward to the next video

Hi Tina

Just wanted to put my thoughts in
When I watched the video Greg keeps flattening as he goes
Being much less confident and competent I like to keep my original intact to be able to compare along the way
I always make a layer copy to start with
Sometimes you need to make two layer copies.
Cause if you change the mode to colour or luminosity you need to merge it with another normal layer before copying that layer
I'm not sure if I am making myself clear her but I am sure Greg will be able to explain it when he next talks to you.

Greg may think its unnecessary, but I find it very useful.
Its good to be able to see where you have come from and where you have got to
Sometimes it a good place but sometimes I have lost my way and can see that when I refer to the original

Hope you don't mind me butting in here Greg

Thanks, Julie.  I don't know anything about layers yet - not even how to make one!  But I will keep that in mind after I learn.  Thanks for your input.

Hi
Try this
Go into the layers menu and choose duplicate
Another layer will appear on the pallette
If its highlighted its the layer your working on
To turn it off/on (visible or not) click on the eye icon beside it
Have a go and see what happens.

If you choose 'new' in layers menu you get a blank
You can then make selections in a layer and then copy paste into the new layer.

Think of them as layers of paper but you can change opacity so some are see through.

Try playing around with them.
If you get stuck just close the image without saving changes and nothing will be saved

Julie
