Mike,
I have placed some photo's on my personal gallery.
they are sandsculptures.
I have always a problem to make the sand color right.
the sand is not ordinairy see-sand but river-sand.
I would place the orginals on the challenge-page, so that others can trie it to make it better then I have done it today.
I have lot of sandsculptures from the early days, witch I would also better.
But , first I like to hear or these from to day are good, or not and how I can do it better.

Interesting images. I think one of them would make a good challenge image. This one is my favorite:

Meantime people are welcome to post improved versions to this thread, or to their own albums.

Here is my take on one of your delightful sand sculpture images. I used the "lizard tail" move to add much more texture to the coffin lid (great theme for a sand sculpture, BTW!), and added contrast to some of the detailed work in the middle of the image.
Since you mentioned that this is river sand, I went for a brown color, which turned out to be about the same color, but more saturated than the original color.
The curve file should be in the image - use alt-O to access it, and I've attached the acv file itself.
I would like to encourage others to post their interpretations. If Fritz will post a slightly larger version, I'll make it one of the challenge images. This is not the final word in how to correct this image, and I believe others will have different, and better interpretations using curves and other tools - sharpening for example.

Mike,
you have done it nice.
But this is the orginal picture.
that 's to say: I have sized the real orginals tot make them less 200k.
the real orginal's , I thrown them away.
Of course I have first done them all with Curvemeister before making them less big.
I have made a sand pinfile first and used this on all the photo's

From picture 4 , I made a sand-pinfile from his leg and used it over nearly all pictures.
The results from that are in the User Gallery.
