Hi

I purged the cache yesterday and went to bed while it did its thing
Got up this morning and its not good
I cant open a whole lot of images - some psd and some jpg
the psd I can live with as I will just need to do the edit again
really annoying, but possible
the jpgs though are different
I don't know what they were and all the metadata and keywords are gone
does anyone know what I have done???

Here is an Adobe Article regarding the Cache in Bridge CS5.

http://helpx.adobe.com/bridge/kb/cache-bridge-cs4-cs5.html

Did you compact or Purge the cache?  If you purged the data is gone.  Mostly it is previews and thumbnails.  You might have to re-import images to get them to show up.

You might try compacting it next time.  That removes any dead links and re-builds the Database indexes for faster searches and better performance.

Hi

I have a had a good look at what has happened
Some images have no data at all and some still have the data but will not open

I accept that I have lost these but would like to understand what I did, if possible
All images were imported at the same time and have been stable for 18 months
They were taken on different days and have been edited on different days
It is not just the thumbnails in bridge but the images are also not able to be opened from where I save them

I just don't want to do this again if possible

thanks
Julie

Julie,
Can you post an image file that you are not able to open?

I'd like to see what happened?
Greg
