Mike,
CS5 having these issues might be related to my problem as well.

I have found that a good restore point is the fastest way to get out of this.  I can trigger this often with my situation...

Brian this probably does not relate to your exact situation...I am a special Child...but the symptoms are the same...

I'd really like to fix this problem as it is causing grief among the 64 bit folks.  What's got me scratching my head is the interraction between 32 and 64 bit.

Maybe CS% interacts with the WOW32 and the VC foundation classes in such a way as to screw up the Paths or maybe CS5 is walking over memory ranges that you use...they have some programs that stay resident...perhaps one of them is at work here...just random thoughts...
