I have a feeling I once heard that we could have the Carte showing in a separate pain, rather than replacing the image - but can not see how to do it?
Is there a way?

That's not a bad idea, actually, for all the channels as well as the mask.

As it stands now, the Mask carte can be shown in its own window, and you can highlight the mask in transparent green, but there is no way to show a separate large image of the mask in question.

No Mike,

I wasn't after a large mask in it's own window along side the image window - I've only a small 1600x1200 screen - not 2 screens.

What I thought I'd read was that it was possible to show all the masks (before selecting one) in its own window - similar to being able to move & resize the Curve window.

This, happily, is supported.  The mask carte is available as a separate palette.  It can be docked, floated, and resized, similar to the pin palette.

To access it, click on the mask carte button, either under the mask tab in the ribbon, or the icon with two masks, next to the pin icon in the toolbar.

Thanks Mike,

I thought it was something like that, but clicking on the 2 mask icon next to the pin icon does nothing, whether or not I'm showing the masks or not.  I just get all the masks replacing the image.

Similarily the menu item Set Mask>Show Mask Carte does nothing.

The only icon which works is the one left of the Set Mask menu or Set Mask>Show Mask

I have a 'handle' to move the taskbar around, but I can not find the mask one.

Hmmm - this sounds like it might be a palette location issue.  If you are comfy with regedit, try deleting the keys under
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareCurvemeister.comCurvemeister3

This will reset your palette locations, and toolbars to their defaults.  If that works, I may need to change the installer to do this reset automatically.

ah ha- dangerous thing to do!
Because now it will not register - comes up with
http://www.curvemeister.com/products/Curvemeister3/ 'Page can not be found'

luckily I took a copy first !

So I tried just deleting all but the ProductURL, SerialNumber, UserCompany, UserName & Version
but that did not help.

I actually have the following (not showing the serial number!)

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARECurvemeister.com]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARECurvemeister.comCurves 2 Demo-Install]

"OtherDir"=""

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARECurvemeister.comCurves 3e-Install]

which should I remove?

Oops - you're in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE part of the registry, not HKEY_CURRENT_USER.

Try deleting HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareCurvemeister.comCurvemeister3 instead.

Glad you did a backup!!
