Ron,
Do a quick search for Curvemeister.8BF and see if it is located on your system in one of the curvemeister folders.  Check the build dates.  Sometimes the 8BF does not get copied to the CS3 filters folder because of "folder protection" Adobe sets.

If the 8BF is newer in the curvemeister folder...if it exists....Copy it manually to the CS3 folder and see if it will run as 3.0.18.  I have had issues with CS3 not allowing files to be copied into the folders.

It sounds like the UAC still smacked the installer regardless of your admin rights....

That was the problem -- the old version was located in "Adobe Photoshop CS3/Plugins" and the new version was in "Adobe Photoshop CS3/Plugins/Filters."

I was unsure which was the desired Folder so I simply eliminated the "old" version. All is right with the world now.

Thank you.

Cool...glad to hear it Ron....

Mike, I think this is still related to the UAC for RON but my issues is on XP SP3.
I have not touched the Win7 or Vista Installs...I need these until this class cycle is over....

I run win XP 32 bit and PS CS4 I had version 3.0.12 and is was working OK. I tried to install version 3.0.18 and got the following message: Curvemeister Istallation:   Registration of some Active X controls &/or Type Libraries failed. Istallation will finish but the application may not work properly Following controls couldn't be registered: C:Program Files|Curvemeister.comCurvemeister_3|Curvectl3.ocx
Curvemeister is gone, no sign of it in CS4. Please help. I uninstalled and tried version 3.0.15 but exactly the same happened.

Ganna,  thanks for information, and my apologies for the inconvenience.

It looks like some of the issues that I thought were 64 bit only are also affecting the new version of 32 bit curvemeister, and I have an idea now what that problem is.

I've added a step to the install procedure that includes some additional support files that should allow 3.0.18 to install and run correctly.  Hopefully this will smooth the way for the next person.

Hi Greg,

I'm 99% sure it will work with no problems if you install the MS redistributables.  If it doesn't, then I need to either pull the release, or figure out what the problem is, and that would be helpful too.

I'll try it tomorrow then...on My XP System.

OK, installed without problem on my WIN7 64OS Home Premium using 32 bit CS4.  No issues so far.  Program opens and runs.  I was able to make some fast LAB adjustments and apply to a JPG image.  More to follow...So Far.....

So Good....
