Hi
I have been using bridge and PS6 64 bit and its just getting slower and slower
Its ok when I get into PS but getting there is taking forever
Opening, sorting, applying, meta data, anything in bridge is slow or freezing.
Its driving me crazy

I do have a lot of images but have been trying to keep them in smallish folders

I am wondering if my system is just not up to it any longer and would appreciate any suggestions anyone may have

I have windows 7 home premium
Processor Intel Core (TM) 2 Quad CPU Q9400 @ 2.66GHz @.67 GHz
8.00 GB Ram
64 bit operating system

Bridge and PS and windows are all up to date

I have two internal drives one with just the images and the other with everything else

I have recently started using raw instead of jpg. Could the larger file size be causing any problems?

thanks

Julie

Julie,
You system is not slow...you are very close to what I use.  it's not the fastest but it's not slow.

Have you tried compacting the Cache?  go to Edit> Preferences> then choose the Cache tab and compact or purge the cache.  Purging it will remove stored previews and you will experience a slower preview load until they are rebuild.  try compacting it first and see if your perfomance gets better.

RAW should not slow this down.  Bridge is a database it is simply a pile of links to the XML and image data.

Hi

the other day bridge just ground to a complete stop
after a quick trip to the repair shop I have discovered the problem was the drive all my images are on
they have done a bit of a repair and I am making sure I have everything backed up before the drive just stops forever
thanks for the quick reply

Julie
