I keep seeing ominous rumblings about the dire state of Flickr's finances, even after they were bought by Smugmug. It seems like a good idea to somehow get my 6,941 photos off the site, just in case. I know that someone somewhere has written a script that will download huge numbers of photos from flickr, I just have to find it - so I'm not that worried about that part of the process. And it's possible to get a large hard drive and stick the photos on it, so I'm not too bothered about that part either. But.... then what? Has anyone had good experiences with other photography sites (especially ones that seem to be solvent)? And how long do external drives last? And do you have to double-back them up, ie have an additional mirror drive? It begins to seem like the only way to reliably preserve a photographic archive is to print it out....

You could try this one...

http://getbulkr.com/

It's a backup and download tool that works with flickr.
