Interesting textures. It looks very weird, because it has the texture of both a real and a fake flower. I think you may have invented something here!

Can I use a normal lens to try focus stacking or do I need a macro?

My understanding is any lens can do it if the camera allows it. With a normal lens the focus length is over 2 feet so getting close is really hard.
