On the Journey

Everyone,
yesterday I had the unexpected pleasure of finding the Museaum of Photography while on vacation in San Diego. It was an unexpected discovery because I did not search for Photographic Mueseaums.

http://www.mopa.com

I was quite amazed at the depth of the small but valuable exhibit featureing work from Steichen, Weston (both Edward and Brett), Cunningham, Lange, Adams and Cartier-Brisson as well as many other amazing photgraphic creators.

It reminds me to strive everyday to 'see'. To see new thigs in new ways and to remember that the roots of photography are very experimental and sometimes playful. The images by Brisson were nothing short of amazing. They showed his ability to portray the scene in such a playful way and yet when you look inside the image there was such pain and sorrow.

Please take a few minutes out of your day and go look at these photographers work. Go seek out their curiosity and their insight.

I spent a few hours with them yesterday I was star struck.

Greg

I'm ashamed to say that I lived in San Diego for many years and only went to the MOPA once. It is indeed a great little place.

Glad you had a great time, Greg. I've been to San Diego a couple of times but I didn't even know about MOPA. If I ever get the chance to visit the city again, I'll make sure to carve out some time for that museum.

It is most certainly a must see if you are a photographer.
