A page I digitally enhanced for a friend (Book of Kells, Gospels, 7th cent. Ireland).

Beautiful. Is it possible to see your starting point?

Sure, here it is.
I have a book that contains large, A4 size reproductions of pages from the Book of Kells. I photographed this page from the book under natural light, on a cloudy day in my conservatory (which has blue-tinted windows in the roof). The diffuse light was helpful I think.
Since parts of the page were faded more than others, I tended toward underexposure.

No, not a lot --relative to my usual :) -- about 1/2 hour I think, maybe a little longer.

Here is my swing at this.

I tried to make the purples, blues and what little green I could find stronger.

I like it what you've done with it...
