Firstly did Shadow/Highlight in PS (Mild) Then I did Dan's False profile (1.0 gamma)to lighten more. Into CM and set the skin tones in Lab (screenshot 1) Lastly darkened sky with help of a mask and saturated in Lab again and finally did Dan's "Sharpen 2011"

Ganna,
On your monitor do the shadows look incomplete?? It seems like the blacks are not quite black...

I am only a newb
This way of PP is quite new to me. (curving combine with blending and masking). I really think it is awesome!!! I can't wait to test CM on a mates machine as i use linux, i can't run CM :-(
Though could not resist to play a bit with this image.

i did use CMYK K channel to get some light in the faces. and applied some luminosity blending in K channel on the Y and M channel to avoid messing with the blue parts to much. Used Lab for blue /green / red cast fixes. To bad i cannot use the hue clock :-(
Greg feels the methode i use for fixing cast do take away blue's where one does not want. Can me stubborn though the blues at the plateau or ok for me. The sky might be a bit flat. though it could be realistic i have no clue

Nice job on opening up the shadows.
The skin tones are a bit too yellow - try to get a touch more red in them.

Thnx will do. I envy you guys for that color clock
did play with CMYK, though had to go to LAB to get this.

the woman's face is so tricky imo. Before i know she goes red like a tomato
so did remove some yellow instead of adding red.
